What makes a dead show great for YOU?

Here's some tips I've learned:
Anything uploaded transferred or fixed by Tony Gardner is gonna be really good in my experience...

Diana Hamilton seems to have similar taste in shows, I don't know her or her husband but the Hamiltons have entries in a lot of the .txt files of shows I have enjoyed... maybe this is true for you?

look for "_sssb" at the end of a name like
gd 2004-13-32_sssb (fake example of course but this format) these were mastered by Seraphim Station Studio B, many from "a secret Marin county source" - someone who has GD vault access apparently... theres some sweet nuggets there
and some of the remixed sound is far superior to the original master, as hard as that is for me to admit, since I prefer unaltered originals...

do a google search for 'opened for the dead', find a band you like that opened for the dead, and then check for the dead from that date, a lot of those shows have tracks with the dead plus people from the opening bands, can be fun for a fan of both bands...

If you liked a show from one venue, look for other shows from the same venue, different year... the dead had an affinity for some venues and year after year had stellar performances when they played at that venue...

Maybe you want to look for that show you went to or heard about?... or a show you missed...or a show where your favorite song was played?

Hope this has been of some help for someone

OK, I'm the guy who started the "Greatest Dead Show of All Time?" thread "about 15 inches down". I figure that this would be a good place to post the results from the responses I got. It is ordered by number of votes, and the second number is its rank on the most downloaded list. Interestingly, the second most downloaded show (1/8/1979) got no votes for favorite show...

Enjoy!

I like 2-11-70 because Peter Green from Fleetwood Mac, and you could clearly hear Peter Greens guitar work. Mac must have opened for the GD. I have a Fleetwood Mac CD (Shrine 99, 1969-01-25), Where they opened up for Frank Zappa. I would like to find out if Peter Green joined Zappa for that show. To bad that you can't get Zappa on the archive. Anyway, there is one more show you could get with GD and Peter Green; 2-07-70. I haven't downloaded that show yet, so I can't give a recommendation until I hear it. enjoy, bluespro.
